Had a nice visit to the Curaçao Seaquarium while in Curaçao a month ago. I have not been there in at least 8 YEARS. Many new things I had heard about but not seen. The new attractions like the dolphin encounters and different shows make it interesting. A little less boring than what I remember. Just a little less. lol
Windows live writer does not work well with Blogger and even after trying very hard to fix this on blogger, I still can't!!! Everything is spaced and not like it looked in the preview. :( And even with the blogger preview what you see is not what you get. But I hope you like the pictures anyway.
Here's a fast few of where I was at and what
I have seen. I hope you will enjoy the pictures.
And for those postcard collectors....read until the end and you will have the chance to win a nice postcard.
The following picture is on the way to the ticket office of the aquarium. This is the entrance of the aquarium.
I am not sure what that boat is for. I think maybe it's an office (?). Not sure.
There's also a resort on this property, so if you are ever there you can stay their too.
At the entrance there were a couple of trainers with some sea lions.
There was a HUGE sea lion. Well, huge compared to the others. lol I am sure there are bigger ones in the wild.
It also had a very BIG YAWN!
The tickets are expensive but for locals not as much because with an ID-card locals get a discount.

They have, among others, a sea lion show but it seems I was late for that. Be sure to get a schedule from the ticket office with show times at the aquarium. You don’t want to miss any shows.

I saw flamingos, fish, sharks. There was also a touch tank.
Each fish tank has a board in front of it with the names of the fish in that tank and a bit of information on that fish. I didn’t take too many fish tank pics though.
I do not remember the name of this fish. But it basically is on its side and its eye is right above the l in my watermark.
If anybody can help with the name of this fish, feel free to, because I certainly don’t remember. lol

Now, on to the shark pool. Visitors could actually feed the sharks fish. No, I didn’t do it. There was too much of a crowd wanting to feed them and I didn’t feel like waiting so long just to feed a shark.
So, I just took some pictures.
What they do is, they stick a fish unto a big hook-like metal thing and a visitor can hold it in the tank and the shark grabs the fish. It’s just a loud snap in that water when the shark grabs the fish.
Okay, moving on to the touch tank. No, it’s not the picture to your left. :P
In the touch tank you get to see conches, sea cucumbers, starfish and urchins. And of course I just had to touch everything……except the urchins. :D

The sea cucumbers do not look like anything you want to pick up. Believe me! But, I did anyway. They have to be picked up very slow and gently.

They are soooo soft and I have no doubt that if you squeeze, they die.

Starfish are always beautiful. Sea urchins….ouch!
Now, a quick trip to the dolphins but before that I want to share a picture of a very big fish. I hate that it was such a big fish in a small tank. If only I could set it free…..all of the fish actually.

Dolphins…I actually liked that they are actually in the ocean and not a tank. That was what I most liked when seeing the dolphins. Visitors can also have encounters with them. That also looked like a lot of fun.
You can also get a kiss on the cheek from a dolphin. What they do is basically touch your cheek so, it’s not really a kiss, but they call it a kiss.

Anyway, that was in a nutshell some things I have seen and some of the pictures I have taken.I hope you liked the pictures. :)
If you want a chance of winning that postcard I mentioned at the beginning just post a comment and I will randomly choose one of the comments and the lucky winner will get a postcard which has to do with this blog post. :)
